Foundation of the Hellenic Society of Periodontology

The Hellenic Society of Periodontology was founded in 1982 from Professor Fotis Mitsis and 20 founding members. Initially its headquarters was the department of Periodontology, Dental School, University of Athens. Later on under the presidency of Professor Anthoula Kipioti-Diamanti, during the year 1992, the Hellenic Society of Periodontology bought its own private premises. The premises comprise offices, a small auditorium and a library.

The Hellenic Society of Periodontology became a full member of the European Federation of Periodontology in 1993. Professor Alki Andronikaki was the first Greek president of the European Federation of Periodontology in 1999. Dr Ioanna Kamma became president of the European Federation of Periodontology in 2005.
