Peri-implantitis is qualified emerging public health problem due to its increasing prevalence, lack of predictive treatment and associated high recurrence, collectively negatively effecting local and systemic health, patient perception of the treatment and overall implant therapy cost-effectiveness. Out of these reasons substantial efforts are invested in understanding of underlying causes behind peri-implantitis, and improvement of the preventive, diagnostic, treatment, and maintenance strategies for optimizing implant therapy being the gold standard treatment for replacement of the missing teeth.
